Boomtown, Inc. opened Boomtown Westbank on August 6, 1994. The casino became part of Hollywood Park, Inc. (later Pinnacle Entertainment) in 1997, following Pinnacle’s acquisition of Boomtown, Inc.
In 2006, Pinnacle approved a $145 million expansion for Boomtown New Orleans. The project included plans for a 200-room, four-star hotel with a spa and salon, an expansion of the Boomers nightclub, an Asian restaurant, additional meeting space, a new employee dining area, and an expanded buffet. The expansion was originally scheduled to begin in early 2007 and be completed by mid-2008.
A revised expansion plan was announced in 2012, featuring a $20 million investment in a 150-room hotel, fitness center, meeting rooms, and 250 additional parking spaces. The new hotel officially opened on January 21, 2015.
In 2016, Gaming and Leisure Properties acquired Boomtown New Orleans along with most of Pinnacle’s real estate assets, leasing the property back to Pinnacle. In 2018, Penn National Gaming (now Penn Entertainment) took over Boomtown’s operations as part of its acquisition of Pinnacle.
