Info

Plans for the Eldorado were first announced in July 1972 by a group of six investors, including members of Reno’s Carano family. The hotel officially opened on May 24, 1973, featuring 278 guest rooms, two restaurants, and a casino with 200 slot machines, nine table games, and keno. The property also included a ballroom for up to 750 guests, an underground parking garage, and executive suites.

The casino’s success led to multiple expansions. In 1979, the first major expansion increased the number of hotel rooms to 411. Another expansion in 1985 added 20,000 square feet of gaming space and four additional restaurants. By 1989, Eldorado had grown to 814 rooms and introduced on-site amenities such as a bakery, a pasta and gelato shop, and a butcher shop. In 1992, a ten-story parking garage was added for guest convenience.

In 1995, Eldorado underwent another transformation alongside the construction of Silver Legacy Reno, a joint venture between Eldorado Resorts and MGM Resorts International. A crossover was built to connect the two properties, featuring The Brew Brothers, the first-ever microbrewery inside a casino. The expansion also included the Spa Tower, adding ten floors of luxury accommodations, a 10,175-square-foot convention center, and a 580-seat Broadway-style showroom. Eldorado also introduced a coffee roasting company to its list of on-site services. The casino expanded to 78,987 square feet, featuring over 1,500 slot machines, 55 table games, a keno lounge, a race and sportsbook, and a poker room.

In 2016, Eldorado Resorts announced plans to invest over $50 million in property enhancements. As part of a master plan for the three connected downtown Reno properties, the company planned renovations for more than 4,100 guest rooms. This announcement coincided with Eldorado Resorts’ acquisition of Isle of Capri Casinos, marking a period of continued growth and expansion.
