Horseshoe St. Louis

Horseshoe St. Louis, formerly known as Lumière Place, is a casino hotel in St. Louis, Missouri, owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties and operated by Caesars Entertainment.

Info

Lumière Place opened on December 19, 2007, by Pinnacle Entertainment. The casino resort is located in downtown St. Louis, overlooking the Mississippi River, and is less than a mile from the Gateway Arch. It is also within walking distance of the Dome at America’s Center and Busch Stadium. The property features two hotels: Hotel Lumière at the Arch and the Four Seasons St. Louis, the only hotel in Missouri to receive the AAA Five Diamond Award.

Lumière Place was awarded “Best Casino” in the 2013 Riverfront Times Best of St. Louis Readers’ Choice Awards. In March 2014, it hosted a World Series of Poker Circuit tournament.
In April 2014, Tropicana Entertainment purchased the Lumière Place complex from Pinnacle Entertainment for $260 million. Four years later, in April 2018, Tropicana reached a deal to sell its real estate assets, including Lumière Place, to Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLP), while Eldorado Resorts (now Caesars Entertainment) would acquire Tropicana’s operating business and lease the properties from GLP. However, the Missouri Gaming Commission initially rejected the sale due to concerns about GLP owning all six casinos in the St. Louis area. To address this, the deal was revised so that Eldorado would purchase Lumière Place’s real estate for $246 million, financed by a loan from GLP. The sale was finalized in October 2018.

Two years later, in October 2020, the Missouri Gaming Commission reversed its decision, allowing GLP to own Lumière Place. The property was transferred to GLP in satisfaction of the loan, and Caesars leased it back for $23 million per year. In May 2022, Caesars rebranded Lumière Place as Horseshoe St. Louis.
